libmpdclient-dev software package provides client library for the Music Player Daemon (development files), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libmpdclient-dev
libmpdclient-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libmpdclient-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libmpdclient-dev *
You will get with libmpdclient-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
